![]() ![]() ![]() Soldiers chosen for this career field who have not yet earned a college degree are given 24 months to do so. Unlike other enlisted specialties, candidates selected for MOS 51C must have already reached an NCO grade, and they typically have either a college degree or at least a substantial number of college credit hours. They develop contract support plans, conduct assessments of contracting operations, and serve as a resource for supported units and organizations seeking business advice. Today, Acquisition Corps NCOs are in charge of contracting teams, battalions, or brigades serving in both contingent and non-contingent areas of operation. This MOS is also referred to as the Acquisition Corps NCO. Collar insignia may be worn only by enlisted personnel, while the regimental insignia is authorized for wear only by Soldiers who have been awarded the MOS 51C, Acquisition, Logistics & Technology (AL&T) Contracting NCO. In October of 2007, the Department of the Army’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel approved the creation of both collar and regimental insignia for Career Management Field 51 the designs were approved and authorized on January 8, 2008. Review FM 1 - 04 for additional information regarding Legal Administrators.The MOS 51 Career Field was established in December 2006 to help the Army meet an increasing need for contracting officers in areas where contingency operations were taking place. ![]() The legal administrator builds and maintains effective working relationships with key personnel throughout the area of operations to enable OSJA personnel to meet their mission requirements. Legal administrators contribute to and support the training requirements of OSJA personnel. The legal administrator is the third member of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate’s (OSJA) senior leadership team and the officer in charge of the administrative section. Holistically, the legal administrator assigned to an operational unit is a technical expert, legal office manager, advisor, and leader. Finally, legal administrators mentor and guide officers, noncommissioned officers, enlisted Soldiers, and Army civilians. They actively plan, prepare, and execute military legal operations. Legal administrators also manage systems and resources for the delivery of legal services across the spectrum of conflict. In addition to their well-recognized role as technical experts, legal administrators provide experience and leadership to their organizations that contribute significantly to mission accomplishment. Waivers are approved by The Judge Advocate General or his/her designee.ĭuties (FM 1 - 04): The legal administrator is an integral part of the JAGC team. The interview can be declined based on initial screening. Legal Administrators will screen he applicant and make a determination if the applicant is viable BEFORE conducting the interview. SJAs or LOD Commanders who will not support an MOS proponent waiver for an applicant are not required to conduct an interview. SJAs or LOD Commanders can communicate their support to the proponent as part of their applicant interview memorandum. MOS waiver: Soldiers who do not hold one of the listed feeder MOSs may qualify for a proponent waiver of the MOS requirement if the local SJA, the LOD Commander, or State SJA supports a waiver.
